The Serenity shake-down trip was delayed by commitments at the Sydney Boat Show, so our maiden trip north was on a very tight timeline, with 3 crew working 24/7 shifts to make it in time to Hamilton Island for the beginning of Race Week 2018.
Not surprising then, that after a gruelling sailing schedule that took in race weeks in Hamilton Island quickly followed by Magnetic island, it was a relief to finally be able to simply sit back in the chilled surrounds of Townsville Yacht Club for a few days. To rest, re-provision, change over crew and iron out a few bugs we discovered on the way up.
Next stop was Upstart Bay, around 70 nautical miles to the south-east where we soaked up the beauty of our environment as we watched the sun set, moored in this sheltered bay.
Worth noting that it was here at Upstart Bay that our daily ritual of a gin and tonic at 5 began.
Ah, this is the life!
